William Ernest Smith  July 30, 1947 – July 4, 2019 On Thursday, July 4th, William Ernest Smith passed away at the age of 71.  Bill is survived by the mother of his children, Alta, and will be missed by his sons, Andrew and Matthew (Kala).  Bill was the proud grandfather of Luke and Ryan.  He is survived by his brother, Tom, and predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Phyllis (nee Ball), and siblings Paul, Gail and Jackie.  Bill retired from Woodbridge Foam in Tilbury in 2012.  In his retirement, Bill spent many hours dedicated to volunteering at the Shepherd’s Way Inn and with the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Christmas campaign.  He will be deeply missed by his family, his cat Inka, many nieces and nephews and the countless friends he made during his life.   All are welcome to attend a memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life on Thursday, July 11th at 11 am at St Paul’s Congregational Church Chapel (450 Park Ave West, Chatham).  Visitation will take place from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am. In memory of Bill, donations to the Shepherd’s Way Inn of Chatham would be appreciated.
