We will remember Veronica and Bernard Girard in a funeral service on May 6th, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Shrine, Merlin, Ontario with interment of their ashes following the mass.

Veronica Lucille Girard passed away at Copper Terrace Long Term Care Home on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at age 88. Born in her grandparents’ home in Pain Court on October 14, 1934 to Homer Faubert and Marie-Louise Pinsonneault, she was raised on her parents’ farms in Dover and later Raleigh Township.

Veronica was predeceased by two of her siblings and their spouses Edmond (Lorraine Cadotte), and Marguerite (Lenard Lahey). Sister Anita Mallett survives. Veronica was also predeceased by her beloved husband Bernard (November 9, 2022), to whom she was married for 68 years. She is survived by children Philip (Sheila Zurbrigg) (Toronto), Angela (Randy French) (Chatham), and Jacqueline (Randy O’Mara) (RR 7 Dresden), grandsons Daniel (Sascha) (Brooklyn, New York), Gabriel (Toronto), and Samuel (Nick) (Surrey, BC), step-grandson Jason (Kyunghee) (Singapore), and great-grandson Skye (Brooklyn, New York).

Until moving to Copper Terrace in 2021, Veronica and Bernard farmed in Tilbury East Township. After the children were in school, Veronica went back to work, at first in a secretarial capacity for the Tilbury Farmers’ Cooperative and later Pioneer Seed Corn. She then opened a successful ladies’ clothing store, Roni’s Fashions, in North Maple Mall. After selling it, Veronica worked for many years in the fragrance department at Sears in Chatham. She and Bernard had a wide circle of friends, travelled extensively, and enjoyed many winters in Florida.
