Obituary for Russell Templeton

RUSSELL STEWART TEMPLETON May 1931 – August 2021 Russell Stewart Templeton passed away at Riverview Gardens on August 9, 2021. Beloved husband for 67 years of Shirley (Anakin), dear father of Randall (Helen) and Elizabeth Postma (Bill), grandfather of Tiffany (Ryan), Briana (Mike) and Katrina and great-grandfather of Arlo, Douglas and Wiley. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Norma Templeton and Mary Jean Anakin and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Russell was predeceased by his parents Russell and Ella Templeton, his brothers James and Jack, infant sisters Grace and Shirley and his brother-in-law Douglas Anakin. Russell was born on the family farm during the Great Depression. He attended SS No 8 Dover, Chatham Collegiate Institute and the Ridgetown College of Agricultural Technology. Throughout his life, Russell continued to study and learn, obtaining many certificates including Certified Financial Planner. Russell was a past president of the Windsor Branch of The Appraisal Institute of Canada. A member of the Rotary Club of Chatham, a Paul Harris recipient for service and a past director of the Chatham-Kent Community Foundation. Russell’s health failed him and he became a resident of Riverview Gardens until his death. The staff gave Russell wonderful care; kind, thoughtful and professional. A very special thank you to the staff on fourth floor east. Cremation has taken place and a private family farewell will occur at a later date. Donations in Russell’s name to the Rotary Club of Chatham or the Anakin-Templeton Fund, Chatham-Kent Community Foundation would be appreciated
