Obituary for Rick Jarrell

JARRELL, Rick (Frederick) 71 of Chatham passed away peacefully at Chatham-Kent Hospice with his wife Dale by his side on March 3 rd 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Rick was the son of late Chuck & Verna (nee Chandler) Jarrell and loving father to daughter Sheri (Paul) and son Steve (Julie) of Chatham and will forever be missed by his grandchildren who he was so very proud of, Hunter (Meagan ), Brodie (Maria ) and Marin as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces, great great nieces & great great nephews.  Pre-deceased by his sister Sharon Zimmer & brother-in law Frank Zimmer.  Rick’s passion besides his family was his love of classic cars and his 1979 camaro  he could not have rebuilt without the exceptional craftsmanship & skill of his best friend Butch Jones. He loved going to cars shows & especially looked forward to Retro Fest each year. He had a great bunch of friends and fellow classic car enthusiasts that he enjoyed going to cars shows with & coffee at Timmies on Thursday nights. He always had a smile for everyone he met, had a great sense of humor & always willing to lend a helping hand. His family would like to thank the VON and the palliative care team for their compassion & care during Rick’s illness with their in-home visits and very special thank you to our angel Mary Beth Cadotte, Rick’s primary nurse for her compassion, care & love she brought with her every time she walked through the door. She was not only his nurse but became a wonderful friend.  Thanks also to Tara Britton, Mary Beth’s student nurse for her compassion as well.  You are a wonderful nurse Tara. Also thank you to the wonderful care he received during his final days at the Chatham-Kent Hospice & a special thank you to Kendra. At Rick’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service & cremation has already taken place.  A Celebration of Rick’s life will be take place Saturday March 30, 2019 from 1-3 at Aristos (307 Grand Ave West, Chatham). In lieu of flowers the family gratefully requests donations be made to The MS Society of Chatham-Kent , The Parkinson’s Society of Chatham-Kent or Chatham-Kent Hospice
