Obituary for Peggy Brownell

Peggy Jean Brownell entered into rest at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on May 20 th , 2022 in her 91 st year. Known as Jean, she was the beloved wife of the late Walter Brownell (1999) She is survived by her son Bruce (Barb), daughter Marnie (Larry Dutton). She will always be remembered by her grandchildren Carolyn, Amy, David, Shawn, Ashley, Michael and Amber; great grandchildren Addison, Dylan, Maxime and Bennet. Jean was the eldest of a family of 7, and leaves behind 5 sisters, Dorothy (Dave) Groves-Stewart, Marion (Chris) Vito, Helen (Albert) Boston, Elizabeth (Bill) Hoyle, and Joy (Bruce) Mattinson-Muir. Predeceased by her parents Eustace and Hazel Mattinson, brother Douglas, brother-in-law Donald Groves and niece Janet Groves. She will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and extended family from coast to coast. Jean was born September 2 nd , 1931, at Springhill, Nova Scotia, and while she eventually settled in Ontario, salt water ran in her veins and her heart was always in the province of high tides, lobster, and blueberries. She will always be remembered for her feisty personality, her love of winters in Florida, summers in Nova Scotia and her unwavering support of the Hamilton Tiger Cats. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at the Glenarm cemetery June 17 th .     In lieu of flowers donations to the CNIB or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada in Jean’s memory would be appreciated.
