Obituary for Patricia Lloyd

Lloyd, Patricia Marilyn (nee Dillon) at Riverview Gardens June 11, 2018 at the age of 75. After a courageous battle with ALS, it is with great sadness that the family of Patricia announce the passing of a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to everyone. Born in Chatham, Patricia was the daughter of the late Timothy and Rita (Martin) Dillon. Wife of 20 years to Ron. Caring mother to Craig (Alana) and Melinda Dillon and Tracy (Dennis), Deanna (Al) Caron and Shawn (Jen). Proud grandmother of Celene and Dane Dillon, Robert and Ronnie Caron, Ryan Rietdyk (Eleisha) and Steve and TJ (Mel) Micks. She will be missed by her siblings Marion (John), Alice, Doreen (Bob), Bev (Pam), Joe (Sherrie) and Shelly. Predeceased by her sister Rose and brothers Tim and Ed and grandson Kyle Rietdyk. Pat never met a person that didn’t become a friend. She was loved by everyone that knew her and will be missed by many friends. Pat was also known to many as “the popcorn lady” and ran the successful Poppers Kettle Corn business for many years. After retiring, Pat and Ron spent the winters in Texas and made many, many friends there. Pat was proud of her Irish heritage and the fact that her ancestors donated the land that St. Patrick’s church is built on. Being the unselfish person that she was, Pat donated her brain to ALS research at University Hospital, London. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Sharon Coleman of Windsor ALS (Sharon is a true angel), and to the staff on 4 th Floor at Riverview Gardens who worked so hard to keep Pat comfortable. Also a “thank-you” to St. Andrew’s Residence Seniors Day Out Program without which she never would have made it as long as she did. Thank-you as well to the bus drivers for the Chatham Handi Bus that picked her up 3 days a week. A special thank-you to sister Shelly who came whenever she was needed and assisted Pat every day at Riverview Gardens. Per Pat’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to join us at a graveside service on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Merlin at noon followed by a celebration of her life at 1pm in Pat’s garden at her residence on Eastlawn. Online condolences for Pat may be left at lifetransitions.ca . In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to ALS Windsor/Essex.
