With profound sadness, the loving family of Nicholas (Nick) Alfred Cody, 83, of Chatham-Kent, announce his passing on February 27th, 2022 at CKHA after a brief illness. Nick passed peacefully in the arms of his loving and devoted daughter, Sarah. Nick is predeceased by his brothers and sisters, John, Evelyn, Eileen and survived by his sister Catherine Cody of California and his beloved children, Kevin Cody, John Cody, Evelyn Konecny (Kevin) and Sarah Callow (Carson Warrener) and his Stepson, Ronald Gould (Kim). Dearly loved and missed by long time partner, Alice Sansen and her 3 children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was Grandad to Caitlin Cameron, Tiffany Manion, Alisha Ellis, Carson Ellis, Evan Callow, Grace Konecny and Claire Konecny. Nick was born in London England, and best known for his many stories of his youth and adventures around the world. He was quite the handyman and would always be there to lend a hand. He settled his family in Canada, after living in many places all over the world. To hear him speak, he had quite the accent having been raised in Ireland, educated in England and traveling to Australia to start his family. It was quite the experience if you ever had the pleasure of hearing his many life adventures. He truly led a full life of traveling and exploring the world. He was very proud of his accomplishments. Earning Second Engineer ranking, whaling in Antarctica and exploring the world by sea. He retired from Navistar where he made some great friendships. Life was an adventure. However, his greatest accomplishments were his children. He was always there to lend a hand, offer words of encouragement or a loving ear. He loved to dance, be active and work with his hands. He was always found working on a project or two, or ten, many never completed as something new took his attention. He loved meeting new friends. Nick was a very caring person and never hesitated to focus on someone else with a natural gift to make them feel special or appreciated. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his care team and the many doctors and nurses at Chatham Kent Health Alliance and London Health Sciences Centre. Nick’s wish to be cremated has been entrusted to Life Transitions and will take place on Tuesday, March 1st. A private celebration of life will take place on Saturday March 5th, for close friends and family.
