Obituary for Michael Marvell

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Andrew Marvell on July 9, 2021 at the age of 69. Predeceased by parents Gordon and Marguerite Marvell and sister Janice. Brother of Geoff Marvell (Heather) and Maureen Arens (Michael). Survived by Gail, his wife of 32 years, daughters Marisa Leboeuf (Bryan Cadotte), Jennifer Dietrich, Sharla Maloney (Josh), Natalie Marvell and son Steven Green. Loving Papa to Nathan and Eva. As an adolescent and youth, Mike played baseball and hockey, excelling at both. He received a hockey scholarship to Providence College and was the captain of the varsity team. He was later drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers. Unfortunately, a hockey stick in the eye during the college playoffs ended his chances of a professional hockey career. Mike was an avid music lover. He played the bass guitar in several bands: Rizzz in college, Highwater, Front Page News and Black Velvet. Rizzz was inducted into the Rhode Island Music Hall Fame in 2017 and, because Mike was the bass player for the band in the early years, he received the award as well. Mike loved the Beatles and over the years collected quite a CD collection of their albums, along with several books and prints. He loved jazz and enjoyed jamming with friends. Mike worked as a service technician at Bell Canada for 29 years before retiring in December 2004. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Palliative Care Unit at CKHA and The Chatham Kent Hospice. Mike was treated with the utmost care and kindness during his final days. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place August 15, 2021 at the Links of Kent from 1 to 3pm. Those wishing to make a charitable donation in memory of Mike, please consider Chatham Kent Hospice . Arrangements entrusted to Life Transitions Burial and Cremation Service Inc.
