Obituary for Larry Kachno
It is with heavy hearts that we announce on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, Larry Theodore Kachno, at the age of 69, passed away while surrounded by his loving family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Hospital.
Larry was born in Hamilton to Jennie Kachno and the late Ted Kachno (1988), later moving to Tilbury and then Chatham, where he would spend the remainder of his life. Larry will be missed dearly by his siblings - Lorraine St. Denis, Mike Kachno (Judi & son Jake), Michele (Scott) Shanks. He was a loving Uncle to Jason (Diane) St. Denis, Dave St. Denis, Andrea (Andrew) Mikel, Wesley Shanks (Kate Morawietz), Bradley (Taylor) Shanks, Nicole (Shelby) Stead, as well as to his great-nephews and nieces, Griffyn St. Denis, Baron St. Denis, Lincoln Mikel, Brody Mikel, Della Shanks, Phoebe Shanks.
Larry was a gentle-spirit and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was able to brighten up a room with his smirk and expressive eyebrows, which was sure to put a smile on your face. He had a “hi-larry-ous” sense of humour, a wise guy if you will, with a quick wit. He was an easygoing, loving man, with a kind heart. Larry gave the best hugs. He enjoyed cooking and discovering new recipes, vegetable gardening, watching documentaries, specifically about aeronautics, military and new technology. In his younger years he was adventurous, enjoying the slopes and hang gliding off of the Niagara Escarpment. He especially enjoyed being out at the Lighthouse whether that was going out on the boat, watching the northern lights and wildlife, or being with people he knew. Larry was a man of simple pleasures, a true joy to be around. Larry will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Cremation has taken place. A private family and friends funeral service is to take place on Saturday, December 17th at 11:00am, at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery Chapel in Tilbury.
