With sad hearts we announce the passing of Larry Robert De Smit on Saturday, January 21, 2023 while surrounded by family, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease, at Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Born in Wallaceburg 60 years ago. Son of Henriette and the late Leo De Smit (2022). Brother of Deborah Brown, Tracy Hope (Todd) and Lorraine Chandler (Eric). Survived by Sara, Justin, Jordy, Victoria, Melissa, Quinn, Liam, Ethan and Duncan. Nephew of Pauline Brechtman (the late Claus) and the late Theresa Bearse. Nephew of Mary Agnes Bogaert (the late Brian), Peter VanWaterschoot (Linda), Carla Peterson (the late Kent), Mary Lou Van Daele (the late Jerry), the late Lisa Hunter and the late Hilda Menheere (Hugo).
Larry enjoyed many special years as a member of Praise Fellowship. He worked, as a labour of love, crocheting multiple blankets for babies in India. Larry will be deeply missed by all those who loved him. He will be remembered privately by his family.
