Jean Louise Thompson of Chatham passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Wife of Brian Thompson. Mother of Shawn Thompson (Heather Magnus-Thompson) of Guelph, and Melodie Thompson of Ottawa. Grandmother of Corin Brian Thompson. Daughter of Walter and Vera Carrall. Sister of Keith Carrall (Deborah) of Chatham, and Bill Carrall of Victoria Australia. Jean attended St Clair College, graduating with her DSW – SWRC. She enjoyed reading scripture, gardening, berry picking with friends and family, going to the beach, spending time with family, had a passion for animals, and found pleasure in feeding birds or spending time with pets, as she had a fondness for dogs all of her life. The birth of her children and grandson were particularly dear to her. She encouraged her children to follow their passions, such as encouraging her daughter’s desire to explore the world, and her son’s love of the outdoors and adventure. She especially enjoyed camping with family at Manitoulin Island and Kingdom Bound events and memorable trips to the mountains with her husband, mother and father in a 1977 VW Camper. Her foremost trait was her passion for Christ and showing His love for others, both in person and online. She could often be found reading scripture or sharing it with others from around the world. Her favourite books were the Bible and The Lord of the Rings, and her favourite songs were We Will Dance and Our God Reigns. She enjoyed laughing at Just for Laughs Gags, comedy shows, silly pets and watching her grandson. Jean also held a special place in her heart for Wayne and Karen Hasson, Clay Allison, Karen Montgomery, Judy Henly (deceased), Monique Pettitt (deceased) and Ross and Elaine Hale. Those wishing to make memorial donations in Jean’s memory are asked to please consider Wycliffe Bible Translators Canada and Neighbourlink.
