Jean-Guy “John” Gervais passed away peacefully surrounded by family Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Born in Sudbury, Ontario 71 years ago, son of Verney and Helene Gervais (nee Plante).Loving husband of Louise Gervais (nee Chenier) for 49 years. Loving father of Christine Barfett (Warren). Grandfather of Cody Barfett (Shae-Lynn), Cole Barfett (Mia Kristensen), Cameron Barfett (Brianna Dekievit), and Craig Barfett (Alana Beneteau). Great-grandfather of August Christine Barfett, and Franklin Thomas Barfett. Brother of Ron, Rita (John), Lorraine (Joe), Rolly (Lorey) and Vern (Lori). Predeceased by his brother Alfie. John will also be missed by extended family and friends. John spent his working life as a glass technician, but his pride rested with his family. He and Louise enjoyed spending time with their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, and their two black labs, Charlie and the late Midnight. John especially enjoyed his time at Diver Camp with his family and friends. John’s family would like to say thank you to the Medicine Floor, ICU and Continuing Care unit at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for their care and compassion for John and his family. In lieu of flowers we’re asking for donations to The Alzheimer’s Society. A Celebration of Life for John will take place on Sunday November 20, 2022 at the Kent Club in Chatham from 12:00 to 6:00 pm.
