Obituary for Jannetje Kleyn

Like a bird with wings our beloved mother, Oma, sister, and friend made her final journey from this earth to be with our Lord and Saviour on July 14, 2021.   The sun shone on her beautiful face as she smiled and met Jesus and let go of her pain as she was set free.     Jannetje “Janet” Kleyn was born March 17, 1948 in Zeist, Netherlands.   She is predeceased by her parents Hendrik Kleyn (2002) and Anna Kleyn (2015), her brother in law Rick Devroomen (1990) and her nephew Derek Devroomen (1990), her nephew Chadwick Kleyn (2012), and her honorary niece Laurie Noordam (1988).   She was a loving and devoted mother to Anna and Greg Bell of Chatham, Hugh and Marianne Van Pelt of Chatham, Henk and Natalia Van Pelt of St. Thomas, Janette and David Sennema of Strathroy.   She was a beloved Oma to Colin Bell and his fiancé Victoria, Calvin and Carly Bell, Alex and Margaret Van Pelt, Kristina Van Pelt, Jon Van Pelt and his fiancé Kat MacLeod and Michelle and Kaden VanHelden, Autumn, Isabella, Jacob and Sophia Van Pelt, Christopher, Abigail and Emily Sennema.   She was a super Oma to her precious great granddaughters Rory and Daphne Van Pelt. Janet was loved beyond measure by her siblings, Corrie and Arie Vreugdenhil, Henk and Margaret Kleyn, Heather and Scott Alkema, John and Allison Kleyn, Raymond and Valerie Kleyn, Richard and Sherri Kleyn, Chris and Diana Kleyn, all from the Grand Rapids area in Michigan.   She will be fondly remembered by her cousins Gerrit and Sylvia Heikamp and Anita Sorensen and Martin Dobbin as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. With many health challenges our mother faced much of her life she was blessed by amazing care from multiple caregivers over the years that included Care Partners, VON and Bayshore.   We offer special thanks to Nurse Kelly, Mardese and Dr. Rourke along with all of her other hard working and dedicated caregivers. Mom always felt very blessed and loved by her church family and friends from Gregory Drive Alliance.   Her life was filled with love by so many, especially her friends Louisa Little, Maureen Saunders, Jean Noordam and Jean Attewell (her “pair of jeans”), Kate Heinis, Carol and John Brown and Ethel Whicksey. Christ was always the centre of our mother’s world.   Her only wish is for all of her loved ones to come to the Lord and honour Him. In lieu of flowers our mother’s wish was for donations to the Chatham Christian School and the Cancer Society .   Her life celebration will take place on July 18, 2021 at Gregory Drive Alliance Church located at 225 Gregory Drive, West in Chatham.   Visitation will take place from from 2-4 immediately followed by a 4pm funeral service.   Pastor Bob Beasley officiating.  Due to COVID restrictions, masks and signing in will be mandatory.   On behalf of our mother we ask that we honour her with hearts of joy and celebration.   She would rather we wear colours and remember she is rejoicing now.   Her final words to her family are “Love you more”.
