Jan Graves passed away in the loving arms of family after her courageous journey with cancer on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Chatham Kent Hospice. She will be forever missed and always loved by her husband Ron. They were married 56 years and had a wonderful life together. Jan will also be held in sacred memory by her daughter, Kim Smith and grandchildren, Ashely, Mitchell and Darion Smith. Her precious great granddaughter, Pyper, will carry on Jan’s laughter and love. Jan was predeceased in 2020 by her son Lee (Kelly). Jan was born in 1946 to the late Albert and Josie Authier. She grew up with sisters Jean (Bill) Stover and the late Carol (Jules) Dupuis and brothers Raymond and Gary. She was cherished by many nieces and nephews. She graduated from the Pines in Chatham, filled many clerical positions within the community, soon married Ron and enjoyed her role of wife and mother. She ran a corn crew for many years and will be fondly remembered as Mamma Graves. Time at the cottage in Rondeau with family and friends, euchre club nights, dancing at Erieau & Hegs Hub, being on the water, and a 50 th Anniversary trip to Hawaii are special memories that Jan loved. Fishing, car rides, tending her whimsical gardens, going out for supper and simply spending time with family and friends were some of Jan’s favorite pastimes. She was so very proud of her children and her family. She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley’s “Blue Hawaii”, Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colours”, and Reba McIntyre’s “The Greatest Man I Ever Knew”.  Her daughter & granddaughter’s dogs Maggie and Bear, old pictures, her rascally neighbors and comical friends could always make Jan laugh and smile. She gave unconditional devotion to those in her life. Jan was loved fiercely, and will be forever missed by many. Donations are welcome in Jan’s memory to the Chatham Kent Hospice,   Canadian Cancer Society or Arthritis Society .  A celebration of life will be held in Jan’s honour in the late spring / early summer with a date to be determined.
