Harold Joseph “Bucky” Walters passed away peacefully at the Chatham Health Alliance hospital on June 23, 2021.Born in Toronto to parents William and Gertrude Walters on April 14, 1924, he and his family moved to Chatham when he was 5 years old where he spent the rest of his long life. He is survived by his wife of 68+ years, Ruth Lillian Walters (Thompson) and his 2 sons, Paul S. Walters of Chatham and Brian S. Walters of Long Beach, California. Predeceased by his siblings and their spouses Edna Hicks (Tom), William Walters(Doris), & Reg Walters (Bonnie) and his in-laws , Margaret Webb (Norman),Jack Thompson (Lil), Malcolm Thompson (Pauline).Bucky farmed for a few years at Kings Corners at the outskirts of Chatham and spent the majority of his working life in the farm machinery business as a salesman for the Massey-Harris dealership in Chatham and Leeson Equipment (Chatham) before starting his own business known as ‘Bucko Equipment’ on Richmond Street West, which he carried on for many years until his retirement.He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Chatham for 80 years, serving on the Board of Managers and the Roof Restoration Project. Known mostly silently as a very generous person for many charitable causes as well as countless efforts to assist friends and family.He was also a volunteer with Outreach for Hunger and a former member of the Thames Skating Club and Chatham Granite Club.Bucky is fondly remembered by several surviving nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention but whose kindness, friendship and support will not be forgotten by his family. The family would like to thank Drs Bailey and Biondi, and the Thamesview Health team as well as the staff at Bayshore Home Care for their ongoing care. Cremation has taken place and as per his wishes no service or visitation is planned. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Salvation Army (Chatham) or Outreach for Hunger (Chatham).
