With heavy hearts we announce the passing of George Joseph “Joe” Zimmer at his home peacefully, on Saturday June 13, 2020. Joe was born in Chatham, 57 years ago on May 1, 1963, son of Helen (Bourdeau) Zimmer and the late George Zimmer of Chatham. Beloved husband of Tracey (Blackburn) Zimmer, married for 30 beautiful years. Loving father of Amanda and Ashley Zimmer of Guelph. Joe will be remembered by his giant heart and his playful spirit, which always made everyone laugh. Founder of Zimmer Signworks, Joe was hard working, but always found the time to help out friends and family. Brother of Michelle and Tom O’Rourke of London, Wayne and Barb Zimmer of Delaware, Mark and Lorrie Zimmer of Chatham, Annette and Robert Jones of Chatham, Andrew and Pat Zimmer of Mississauga, and Nicole and Gerrod Stewart of Barrie. Brother in law of Doree Blackburn and Aveny Isovski of London, son-in-law of Dorothy “Dot” Blackburn of Terrace Beach, and predeceased by father-in-law Glen Blackburn. Cherished “Uncle Joe” and dear friend to so many. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his honour. Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
