Obituary for formerly "nee Purdy" Gertrude Iva Tieleman

We will forever remember Gertrude Iva Tieleman (nee Purdy), formerly Moon, as a woman of faith, dignity and love. Gertrude passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021. She would have celebrated her 101 st birthday on August 25. Gertrude is predeceased by her husband, Jack, and leaves behind her dear daughters, Charlene Hooker (Wes) and Joy G. Schwarz (friend Terry). Grandma will be missed by Jennifer Hillman (Chris), Wes Hooker (Paula) and Jonathan Hooker (Candace) and by great grandchildren Jessica, Kensley and Ciana Hooker and Brooke and Lucas Hillman. Gertrude has a brother James L. Purdy and is predeceased by her parents Lionel and Iva Purdy and sister Ruth. She will be sadly missed by cousin Linda Marchand, who volunteered at Meadow Park Nursing Home and son Lorne.  Gertrude enjoyed spending time with her family and was immensely proud of them. Reading the Bible, knitting, gardening and sewing were some of her favourite pastimes. As her favourite song tells us, “You Never Walk Alone”. Following a private family funeral, all are welcome to attend a graveside service at Maple Leaf Cemetery on Friday, August 27 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.
