Obituary for Faye Finlayson

Faye Finlayson was a wonderfully creative and loving person with an infectious smile and laugh. She brought immeasurable love to those she cared for, and she cared deeply for many. Faye took great joy and pride in her work and devotion to the New Horizons Community Church in Sarnia. She forged strong friendships within her church and those friends were dedicated to her faith, personal growth, care and support. Her work with the Beginning Experience bereavement support group allowed her to give back to the community as she benefited from their support previously. Love and thanks are extended to Julie and Gary Wray, and Alex Herbert for their kindness and care, not just to Faye, but her children as well. She was an artist at heart and expressed her creativity with everything from lettering, to painting and needlework. She loved anything creative, including books, theatre and film. Faye fought her long battle with cancer with determination, grace and courage. Her medical care givers were amazed at her strength and tenacity. Faye was survived by her children, Kimberley, John and Liz. Her beloved grandchildren, Shannon (husband Dustin, children Brantley and Carley), Brad (wife Jen, children, Sara, MacKenzie and Oliver). Faye’s final words for those she loved were: “I would like it if the folks that cared for me got together and talked behind my back…LOL…by telling funny stories about what they remember about me. If you are reading this, I’m in God’s hands in a new and different realm. My love to all that cared about me in my lifetime. Be assured…I loved you”. Arrangements will be made at a later date to scatter Faye’s ashes over the St. Clair river (her favorite sitting place) as per her wishes.
