Obituary for Erston Coulter

ERSTON GEORGE COULTER - Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to so many. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Erston George Coulter on Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 82, or 20 ½ as he was proud to say because he was a Leap-year baby, born on February 29, 1940.

Erston was originally from Novar, Ontario and the second youngest of Blanche and Adam Coulter.

Erston could drive anything but was one of the best car-haulers you could ever find. He worked for over 35 years driving car-haul out of Oshawa, Ontario and was active in the driver’s Credit Union and Social Club for many years.

An avid card player, he and his wife of 55 years, Vivian, were always up for a lively game of Euchre, Pepper, or Cribbage. Over the last year, he really enjoyed his weekly club sessions at the Chatham-Kent Alzheimer’s Society where he met new people to hear all of his old stories!

Erston’s greatest love was for his girls; his wife Vivian, and daughters, Arden Eldridge (Doug), Carolynn Hill (Kennie Durfy), Claudette Lewis (David) and Andreena Clifford (Eugene). He was a proud ‘Poppa’ to his grand-kids; Ashley Mitchell (nee Lewis), Joshua Eldridge, Tyler Hill, Deanna Kitchen (nee Lewis), Dylan Clifford, Emilie Dubois (nee Clifford), Alanna Collins (nee Eldridge), Brandon Lewis, Dalton Clifford and Dawson Clifford. Great-grand-babies, Cole & Michaela Kitchen, Bowen & Josie Mitchell, and Lane Collins never failed to bring a twinkle to his eye.

Erston’s wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of life will be planned next summer when we can all get together. Thank you to Kelsey at Life Transitions for helping us.
