Obituary for Edmond Duquette

Edmond (Ed) Victor Duquette, a resident of Sombra, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Hospice in Sarnia, Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the age of 73. He was the son of the late Alcide and Dorothy Duquette, and beloved husband of Carol (Stratton) Duquette. Brother of Clarence (Helen), Don (Maureen), and Maurice (Bonnie) Duquette and Dianne DeKort. Brother-in-law of Nancy Duquette, Ronald (June), William (Anne), Garnet (Bev), and Glen Stratton, Muriel (Charles) Johnston, Linda Benoit, Judith (Doug) Saunders and Katherine Peeters. Ed was also an uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Robert and Richard Duquette, brothers-in-law Pete DeKort, Victor Stratton, and Larry Benoit, sisters-in-law Shirley Pouget, Sharon Branton, Joan Wagenaar and Eleanor Stratton. Ed was a plumber pipe-fitter, and after working out of Local 663 in Sarnia for many years, he opened his own business “Ed’s Plumbing and Heating” and then TSMechanical, retiring in 2011. He lived a full life, he was a sports enthusiast, an avid golfer, baseball fan and player, and once his dad taught him how to play bridge, he enjoyed many games at the Wallaceburg Legion and the Kent Club in Chatham. He was a Past Master of the St. Clair Lodge #425 in Sombra, and he was also a volunteer firefighter. His family is most grateful for the compassionate care he received during his illness from Dr. Shih in Petrolia and the St. Joseph Hospice in Sarnia. All are welcome to gather from 10-11 am Saturday May 26, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, Port Lambton, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am. Burial to follow mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
