Obituary for Donald Hornby
Donald Charles Hornby passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance at the age of 73. Donald was the loving husband of 52 years to Mariette Hornby (nee Bourque) and the much loved father of Nicole Rossignol. The pride and joy of Donald’s life was his grandson Christopher. Donald was the son of the late Charles and Bertha Hornby (nee Stock). He is also survived by his sister Carolyn Hack and Marlene Laskey (George), and sisters-in-law Fernande Bourque and Micheline Bourque. Predeceased by brother-in-law Donald Bourque. Uncle of Jeff Hack, Lorraine Boros (Tony), Darren Hack (Tina), Allison Hack (Masin), Mark Laskey (Lynne), David Laskey (Melanie), Daniel Laskey (Selena), Tony Bourque, Kevin Bourque, Pat Paquette, MelAnie Bureau (Jean-Marc), Julie Lavoie (Michel), Nancy LaForge, the late Jimmy LaForge, and Annie Jolicoeur (Fred).
Donald worked for Maple City Office Equipment and was an active member of the Goldwing Riders. He also enjoyed travelling to many places doing charity runs such as the Christmas Toy Run. Donald was a pilot and enjoyed flying with his buddies and going to airshows. He also enjoyed his time spent camping with his family, fishing, and boating adventures.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a gathering to remember Don on Friday, April 28th from 1pm to 6pm at the Links of Kent in the River Deck Room (120 Indian Creek Road West, Chatham). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent in honour of Don.
