Obituary for Diane Roffel

A resident of Chatham, Diane Roffel (nee Riedstra) passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, with family beside her on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the age of 80. Born in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, Diane was the daughter of the late Andrew and Fenny Riedstra. Beloved wife of 58 years to the late Harry Roffel. Loving mother of Judi (Michael) Hoekstra of Portage La Prairie, MB, Nancy (James) Jütte of London, Douglas (Crystal) Roffel of Chatham and Brian (Jenny) Roffel of Chatham. Proud Grandma of 18 grandchildren (two predeceased) and Great-Grandma “GG” to 7 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of the late Eva (late Hank) Hofstede, the late Tom (late Anne) Riedstra, the late Teena (Homer) Vandervecht, the late Jane Riedstra, Gary (Chila) Riedstra, Jackie (Jenne) Looper, Annette (Ken) Jordan, and Francine (Les) Badder. Sister-in-law of the late John Roffel (late Mabel), Attie Koopman (late Meindert) and Anne Koomans (late Harry). Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.  Diane was an amazing blessing to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, shining her faith in every aspect of her life. She volunteered for many years as a librarian at the Chatham Christian School. Diane also enjoyed many summers with family and friends at Elim Lodge Christian Conference and Resort. She was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church. All are welcome to attend a visitation on Monday May 16, 2022 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Grace Christian Reformed Church (255 Tweedsmuir Ave W. Chatham). A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday May 17, 2022 at 11 am at Grace Christian Reformed Church. Interment to follow at Arnold Cemetery.
