With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Diane Margaret Merritt at 11:11am on Thursday, December 8, 2022 while surrounded by her loving family at Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Born in Chatham 76 years ago. Daughter of the late Allen and Leila Wearne. Wife of Evan Merritt Sr for over 57 years. Mother of Evan Merritt Jr (Paula) and Kelly Merritt (Charlie). Grandmother of Seth, Emmy, Cade, and Lucas. Diane is the sister of Mary Jean (Fred) Cowlan, Glen Wearne (Cheryl), Ginney Bird (Bob), and Ellen Brown (Wayne). Diane will forever be remembered as a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Always full of life and sass. Diane and Evan travelled all over North America together and she also loved her trips to Las Vegas, gambling with her sister-in-law and best friend Cheryl. Diane will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all those that knew and loved her. All are welcome to attend a celebration of her life on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 1-3 pm at Hidden Hills Golf and Country Club (25393 St Clair Rd.).
