Obituary for David Catton

David Charles Catton , 76, of Dresden passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2019. Born in Niagara Falls September 26,1942 and raised in Sarnia, the son of his late father, Ken (Clarence) Catton and survived by his mother, Edna (Chambers) Catton. Beloved husband and best friend of 53 years to Elsie Catton. David will be missed by his sister Diane (Catton) Carrothers and her husband Jim Carrothers. Loving father of Wendy and Jeff McDonald and Chuck and Karen Catton. Proud grandpa of Roderick and Mandy McDonald and Aidan Catton. He is survived by his nephew and nieces Steve and Tina Loxton and Pam and David Burgess. As well as many other beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews. David was a gifted artist. He attended Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Beal Art School in London. He worked as a commercial artist at Libby St. Clair in Wallaceburg for 30 years. He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and had a passion for wood carving. David liked to be physically active. He was an avid tennis player and outdoors man. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, and camping. He will be remembered for his kind heart and his ability to connect with people wherever he went. All are welcome to attend a funeral service at Dresden Community Church (29043 Community Rd. Dresden) on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 2:30 pm. Colin Paterson officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 pm until time of service. Luncheon to follow service. Cremation to follow. Donations can be made in David’s name to Hemophilia Ontario.
