Charles (Stu) Sullivan: Born Aug 25, 1933, Deceased Nov 8, 2019 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Stu. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, his daughter Candy Hayward, his son Kelly (Diane), his step son Jeff Rood (Waltzby) and grandchildren Sean, Noel, Charlotte and Rachel Sullivan, Shawn and Sheena Seguin and Jedd and Malaya Rood. He is predeceased by his son Skip (Mary) and his sister Miriam Leroux (Larry). Stu, a native of Montreal, began his career as a steam engineer at the British American Oil refinery in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and was elected as a union steward at the age of 21. He was recruited by the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers Union (present day Unifor) and became the Sarnia and District international representative. Stu was elected Vice-president of the Ontario Federation of Labour and President of the Sarnia and District Labour Council. He has lectured at U.S. and Canadian universities on quality of work life. He served as the Canadian representative at the World Council of quality of work life conference in France. Stu has been elected Chairman of the Board for Lambton College Board of Governors. He has served as the President of the Sarnia and District United Appeal and Director of the Sarnia Community Foundation. Stu has been the NDP nominee for the MPP. In his youth he played junior football for the Lakeshore Flyers and was a competitive swimmer. Later in life Stu enjoyed sailing and was a member of the Sarnia Yacht Club. There will be a Celebration of Life for Stu at the Unifor Local 914 Hall, 900 Devine St, Sarnia, Saturday, Nov 23, 2019, from 1:00 – 3:00. All are welcome.
