Obituary for CHARLES DRIES
Charles Henry Dries passed away peacefully on January 23rd, 2019 at the age of 80. He was the son of Henry and Rose (Verslycken) Dries, both deceased. He is survived by his 98-year-old aunt Julma Dries of the Ursuline Sisters in Chatham, Ontario, h is loving wife of 55 years Sandra (Dauphinais) Dries, d aughter Pamela Smoley (Evan) of Toronto, s ons David (Renata) Dries of Burlington, and Christopher (Rosemary) of Chula Vista, California. His pride and joy were his 5 grandchildren, Aidan and Adam Smoley, Jolien and Chloe Dries, and Brandon Dries. Charlie is also survived by his brothers Joseph, Raymond, and Edward (Liz). His sisters Joanne Sullivan (Ron), Elaine Dillon (Dan) and Helen Cree (David), as well as the lifelong Dries family friend Eddie (Helen) VanRossen from Troy, Michigan.
Charlie was a member of St. Patrick’s parish in Merlin and the Knights of Columbus council No 11891. Apart from his family Charlie had two great loves, hunting and fishing, especially with brothers Ed and Joe as well as with his many close friends. A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held at St. Patrick’s parish and announced closer to spring. In lieu of cards and flowers, donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice or, Our Lady of the Rosary Shrine at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Merlin, Ontario are appreciated.
