Gregory C. Jane  – After a courageous battle with cancer, in her 71 st  year, Jane Gregory quietly passed away at home, which was her wish, with friends at her side, in Port Lambton, on October 23 rd  , 2018.  Predeceased by her parents, Jack and Norma Gregory, two husbands, Ken Renno and Dean McLeish. Jane will be dearly missed by her dear lifelong friends of 70 years, who grew up with Jane and who loved her deeply, Karen Davies (Nigel), Fenwick, Margaret Dunker (Klaus), Niagara Falls, Marylou Stewart, London, and Marnie Wilson (Paul), Hamilton.  Jane will be greatly missed by so many wonderful friends, Beula and Mort Bond, London, Michelle Gomes, London, Joan McGeachy, London, Arly and Lorne MacDonnell, London, Joanne Stewart, Niagara Falls, Jim and Joan Stewart, Grand Bend, Karen Orzer, Calgary, Edith Austen, Bancroft, Doug and Nadine Work, Port Lambton, Vicki Holmes, Cameron Holmes, Port Lambton, Lindsey Anderson, Wallaceburg, Fran and Roger Vlaminck, Port Lambton.  Born on October 20, 1948, Jane grew up in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and attended Diamond Jubilee Public School and Stamford CVI.  She moved to Stratford after grade twelve and graduated grade 13 there.  On graduation, Jane attended the University of Western Ontario and graduated in 1971, with an Honors BA Degree in Physical Education and Health.  She went on to teach Health, Sports and Leisure as well as coach at Western, for many years. She researched and wrote numerous article which were published in various journals.  Her thesis for her Masters Degree was written in 1973 and published in 1975, which was entitled, “Superstitions of Canadian Intercollegiate Athletics: an Inter-Sport Comparison.”  Jane loved collecting and displaying her beautiful pieces of art.  She was excellent with design and recognized what a space required. She loved reading, gardening. For decades she would pick all sorts of vegetables and fruit at Thomas Brothers Farm, in the blazing sun, munching as she worked. She would expertly can, pickle, cook the veggies and share the fruits of her labour with her friends. Jane was an athelete, who enjoyed many sports including golf, curling, skiing, and competed successfully in badminton and tennis tournaments. She enjoyed riding her motorcycles and driving her boat. She loved all animals; however, her real passion was her love of horses. She owned several horses throughout her life, caring for them and of course riding them. She frequently went to the Kentucky Derby, followed horse races, jumping and dressage events. Her friends extend their thanks and gratitude to the nurses and all psw at the Wallaceburg Hospital. Thank you so much to Dr. Mayo and the palliative care nurses, who gave such wonderful care, concern and compassion to Jane in her last months of life. Friends are so grateful to Doug and Nadine Work and Vicki Holmes for organizing everything in order to fulfill Jane’s wishes to be home. Thank you looking after Jane and letting her know that she wasn’t alone. Thanks to Cameron Holmes for being a good friend to Jane. Thank you to Lindsey Anderson for her knowledge and assistance to make sure Jane’s wishes would be taken care of on passing as well as showing her your concern. Special thanks to Beula and Mort Bond for always being there for Jane and loving her. Jane’s lifelong friends, who have a such a cherished bond with you, will forever keep you in their hearts. We will miss our get- togethers, chatting and enjoying each others company. Jane you have been an inspiration to everyone who met you. Rest in peace. Cremation has taken place and as per Jane’s wishes there will be no funeral.
