Obituary for Betty Morningstar (Harris)

With heavy hearts, the family of Betty Louise Morningstar (Harris) announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at the age of 80, at Fiddicks Nursing Home with her loving son Darren by her side.

Betty was the loving wife of Phillip Morningstar for 60 years. Dear mother to Darren (Holly), and proud grandmother to Macy. Betty was born in Edy’s Mills, February 13, 1943. She was the 3rd oldest sibling in the large Harris family. Treasured sister to Buck (Aldea) Harris, Marion (Ron) Munro, Doug (Evon) Harris, John (Sharon 2004) Harris, Janice Harris, Peter (Dorothy) Harris, Brenda Harris, Donna (Richard 2002) Harris as well as a fun-loving Aunt, Cousin & Friend to a large extended family.

Betty is predeceased by her parents Harold Harris and Mable Yacks (and stepfather Cecil Yacks), son Steven John (1968), brother William Harris, sister Lucille (Doug) Jarvis and Brother-in-Laws Edward, Herbert (Maxine), and Paul (Beatrice) Morningstar.

Betty enjoyed a long career as a Dietary Aide at Meadowview Villa. Legend has it that she made the best ham & pickle sandwiches ever, and she made sure the student employees were properly trained to do so as well.

Betty will forever be fondly remembered by all that knew her as a Social Butterfly, with her positive, fun-loving attitude and contagious smile. She loved to have fun & get together with friends and family at every opportunity. While a resident of Fiddicks Nursing Home, Betty was very popular amongst the staff and residents. Her dancing skills will be remembered for years to come. Betty’s family will be forever grateful for the loving, kind care she received during her time there.

In lieu of a traditional funeral, we will be hosting a Celebration of Life to honour Betty. She loved a party, so one last party she shall have. Please join us on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 2pm at the Oil Springs Youth Centre, 4517 Victoria St, Oil Springs, to pay respects & raise a glass in memory of Betty.

Any donations made to Bluewater Health in Betty's memory will be greatly appreciated.
