Obituary for Agnes Burton

A resident of Chatham Kent, Agnes Denise Burton passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the age of 89. Born in Izegem, Belgium, Agnes was the daughter of the late Hector and Gabrielle Verscheure. She was the beloved wife of Frederick Burton for 67 years. Loving “Mom” of Nancy (Dan) Parker, Frederick (Bonnie) Burton and Richard (Carolyn) Burton, all of Chatham.  Devoted Grandma to her 5 beautiful granddaughters Season (Michael) Hoogstad, Jasmine Labombard, Monica, Ashley and Natalie Burton.  Awesome Great-Grandma to Alanna, Braden and Zachariah Hoogstad.  Agnes is also survived by sisters in law Frances Huff and Helen Verscheure, and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her brother Eric Verscheure, sisters in law and their spouses Evelyn (Pete) Sadowski, Josephine (Pat) Sinclair, Margie (Oscar) Bechard, brothers in law Jim Huff, Patrick (Nonie) Burton and nephew Pat and his wife Cindy.  Agnes was a dear friend to Christine Pinsoneault and her much loved Wednesday Coffee Club ladies.  Agnes retired from Thamesview Lodge after 25 years of dedicated service.  Agnes was a faithful woman of prayer, especially for her family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider Outreach for Hunger of the Canadian Wildlife Federation .   A private family service will take place at a later date.
